Is there a way to shut off the autolights? I hate pulling up into driveways and not shutting my lights off. I was reading the back of a ticket I got once.... You can get a ticket for not shutting your lights off when you use someones driveway to turn around. $110.

How do you shut them off if you need to?

whats an "autolight".....do you mean daytime running lights? dtl's? if so, no.....without going into the dash and installing a kill switch for them....

on most newer model vehicles from gm, they can be turned off, but its mostly on suv's and light trucks... ie: my gto, you cant turn em off.

Im talking about the headlights at night. They turn on automatically and I can't get them to go off. There is no way to shut off the autoheadlight feature?

I found the fact that I couldn't turn them off very annoying too. I can't beliwve they'd make it so you can't under any circumstances turn them off, because there are times when you have too, but I never found a way in my 97 Grand Prix. My wife's '02 Rendezvous has it too, and the owner's manual makes no mention of being able to deactivate this "feature". However, if you put it into parking light configuration then I believe the headlights won't come on, but of course you'll have your parking lights on. In one way I like it, because some people go way too long at night before they turn their headlights on, but on the other hand there are times when they need to be off.

I don't know about for F-bods, but my old 98 Grand Am had autolights, and you could turn them off by pulling up the e-brake a notch. Not enough to engage it, just a little.

Yea, so basically you'd have to keep it up a notch. Because if you pull it up at night, you have to shut off the car then turn it back on. Then they'd stay off. But if you just pull it up, they're still on. It's stupid. I go through a drive thru and they click on.

At least the Fords have the autolight as an option next to "OFF"

doesn't work with our cars...they work on my buddies silverado and my express vans. doens't work on f-bodies though. I do notice the lights stay off if I start the car and the handbrake it up...

                    YES!

You CAN disable them... I did in my car.... I like being in control....

Here's how (if you need help, ask me... its really simple) :

Camaro and Firebird. DRL control module, a cigarette pack sized black box behind the radio. Pop off front panel over radio and heater ducts, 4 clips. The DRL module is clipped to the HVAC duct. The connectors you'll be working with are not hot but some of those leads behind the dash ARE hot, its best to disconnect the battery negative terminal to be sure. The blue connector on the DRL module has eight cavities, but only seven of them are used. Cavity B is empty. I discovered that if that terminal is grounded, your DRLs are disabled. The black wire in cavity A is a ground, so I took the DRL module apart (easy to do, the cover just slips off) and solder-jumpered the A and B terminals on the PCB. This leaves you with no DRLs, your power hatch and handbrake light still works, and it all looks factory. Easy to undo if you want. A switch can be connected in this A to B lead for DRLs as an option. You are jumping a ground, not a hot wire.

                    **

I just solder jumped mine... and viola! Done.

I had the same problem when going through military gates. I needed to turn my lights off so I didn't blind the guards. I ended up pulling the module behind the radio, unfortunately it also defeated the DRL's. On occasion I would also pull up the parking brake one knotch before starting the car. I never saw indication that the brakes were rubbing at all when I did that, so that's an option if you want to retain your DRL's.
