  • 3rd Gen Lowering Spring Instal Guide

Im looking for a good install guide to do lowering springs for an 85 'Bird. Does anyone have a good one with pics and a good description? Or have any tips or hints to help with the instal? I did my suspension on my 97 but how much different is the 3rd gen compared to a 4th? Any and all help is really apreciated!! Thanks

        Try...

        Spring Install

If you dont want to use a spring compressor, you dont have to. When you lower down the control arm, find someway to keep the old spring from flying out. Some people chain it to the frame. I stuck a 2x4 inbetween two of the coils and it worked fine.

The rear suspension setup is almost exactly the same, but the front suspensions of the 2 cars are somewhat different (3rds gens use a strut and lower control arm, while 4th gens use upper and lower control arms, and a strut, of course).

The guide Mark B posted should be what your looking for. It's the best guide/picture gallery I've seen so far posted on TGO. Just FYI, if you need or want to contact the guy who wrote that guide, he's "ebmiller88" on TGO.

I've had that webpage bookmarked for a while, when I finally get around to installing lowering springs.
