Code 32? With a '89 2.8 you should have a vacuum operated EGR, that code would be for the vacuum switch. Make sure you don't have a vacuum leak first. Did it throw that code at startup or during driving?
edit: BTW it is spelled Solenoid.

the light comes on when i am driving. The car serges and studders abit. there is a bit of tapping also. I have checked some other sites and they recomend replacing the egr solenoid. but i wanted to check with the guys who know it best. before i go and spend a bill on the solenoid when the valve itself is only 50 bucks. P.S. have replaced all my vacuum lines cause they where a mess.

Most likely it's the switch/solenoid (sold together which is why it's so expensive), but I would check the wires before I tried that.
If the egr diaphragm has a hole/tear in it that could cause it too. Block off the port for the hose to the egr valve and see if you still get the code.
Your parts car have one on it? Swap it out.

The diaphram on the egr valve seems to be fine i can push on it and i get a puff of air out of the vacuum fitting. i have switched the on off of my parts car and it dont seem to serge quite as bad but the light comes back on after about 10 miles or so depending on how hard my foot is in it. i have a knock when i first start up and when i put my foot in to it, is that all caused by the egr valve or should i reset my timing. i pulled the distributor to change out the o-ring when i was dripping oil real bad hoping it would be and easy fix but it was the intake. had a bit of a tap when i got it. i have changed the lifters push rods timing gears and chain and cam wires plugs cap and rotor. heard that if i over tightent the rocker arms that it can cause the lifters to bleed out overnight. but first things first will change out the egr switch and see what i get from that. will post update when in two weeks. (next check).
