  • AIR EGR and throttle body bypass

I am going to be sending my motor out to be rebuilt soon and am thinking about the things that I want to do with it while it is out of the car and what are some things I can do as far as removal of some of the smog equipment.

I will be removing the AC (hasn't worked in a while anyway) the AIR system and the EGR system. The EGR has already been programmed out of the CPU due to the fact that it did not work. I will have the AIR system programmed out too. I understand that these systems don't really hurt perfromance too much but I want to clean up the engine compartment. Actually due to the location of the AIR system I nearly burned my car to the ground when a clip holding my fuel lines broke and the lines ended up laying on the AIR tube.

Anyway, what can I relocate/move that will make things easier. And are there any other free mods like the throttle body bypass that I should consider? I will be using a Holley 58mm throttle body and either SLP or Rk Sport headers. I WILL be keeping the CAT in place.

    Ideas?

I realize it may not matter to you, but you do realize that removal of those emissions systems can lower the overall value of your car. The reason is that in many states / counties it is required to have those systms and if you remove them your car will no longer be marketable to people in those states.
the same goes for the air conditioning. I know I would not be at all interested in ever buying a car the had the A/C and smog equipment removed.

Just a consideration, You might not care about this type of stuff.

You're right, doesn't really matter to me. We know our cars are worth so little anyway. We would like to think they are worth more, but the truth is, in my case, I have a ten year old vehicle and even after rebuilding the motor people will still only care about the odometer.

Besides, I plan on handing this baby down to my brother at some point considering he has helped me with a lot of the repairs.

That will probably be a year or two off but he'll still appreciate it.
