this one has about 40,000 miles and is leaking now. very little but i need to replace it. ac delco unit the best or what about an electric water pump?

Delco unit will be the best way to do it, or even any other good name replacement pump. I used sealant and new gaskets with min and checked the water pump drive shaft bearing too. Make sure you clean off the surface of block really well to insure a nice fit for the gaskets.
