I left for Iraq for 5 months, someone drove my car once and stated there were no problems and it was fast. Got back, started it up and about 3 miles down the road, I noticed hesitation. As I went on, it got worse. I was figuring it was a bad fuel filter because the gas is definitely pretty bad by now and it was an old filter to begin with. Does this sound on target??? Also, anyone have a good tech article on how to change it? I'm not too terribly mechanically smart, so any pointers would be appreciated. Thanks!

it takes a lot to clog up a fuel filter. You said it's old, how old?
IS the hesitation throughout the rpm range? Or is it only at slight acceleration? More details would help.
I doubt it's your fuel filter. Have you filled up since you got back and started driving? Could be bad fuel.
Again, I doubt it's your filter...
Give us more details. Any codes being thrown?

My car is pretty stock (for a Hawk) but a Hawk only has exhaust done (I gutted the cat) and ram air. The hesitation doesn't start until about 3 miles after starting the car up and then gets worse as you drive it. It pretty much affects most of the RPM range, I can't find a place or throttle setting where it's not apparent. Haven't had it plugged up and haven't seen any error codes but my SES light isn't on.
The fuel filter is at least 30000 miles old, probably more. I just bought the car (about a year ago). My car is a 95 Hawk
