  • Vibrations 50mph on up

Hey guys, I was driving my car home yesterday and noticed that the faster I go the more vibration I have go throughout the vehicle. It starts at 55 and goes till (the fastest I've been up to so far) 80 and holds a steady shake. It's not killer vibrations, but enough to make me think it's a bent wheel, bad 5th and 6th gear, or I threw a weight. I'm gonna get my wheels and tires balanced tomorrow. Any help is welcome.

i think that somtimes a worn strut or shock can do that.

you don't say what year the car is, but if it's an LT1 car it's likely the infamous driveshaft vibration. There's a TSB out on the problem. I didn't visit the links Kevin put up, but I suspect they reference the driveshaft vibration.

Well, it got worse and worse. At 20mph, I thought I was going to jump out of my seat. Turns out that the Dunlop SP5000 tire (right rear) was seperating. AKA tread seperation, IT WAS BAD!!! I took it over and got new Kumho Ecsta 711 tires, so far, they are great. Does anybody know the tread life I can get out of them?

From what I hear the tread on those tires is not so good. Im not a tire guy but wolfman always tells us to steer clear of those. I hear good things about Cooper though, so maybe the next time you need to get a decent set of tires for a good price check those out. Use the search feature as i think you could find some good info on finding tires.
