  • ECM diagnostics ran freescan -- Questions Within

So ive been complaining in a bucnh of threads about the engine vibration and other vibrations in various areas of the driveline. So i finally ran freescan to see what my knock would be. So I got an initial knock of 4333 from the start up which i know happens from starting the car. But I ended with a knock count of 9568 or something around that. It happened when i pressed the clutch in and revved but not all the time, like i could press and rev to 4500+ and nothing but then on another trial id get 400 knock count and a 7 knock retard. I have all the stuff logged, if anyone knows anything about it and wants to see the file please take a look and tell me what it might be. Tell me if my car is alright or not. Ill either send you the file in email or if someone knows where i can upload an excel doc that would be awesome, thanks guys.

The vibrations may be enough to set off the knock sensor. Or, the vibration may be rattling the motor mounts, and the passenger side mount is bolted to the block, right next to the knock sensor. The sensor is just a microphone, so noises and other vibrations can actuate it.

I even had a header leak get picked up and the computer retarded the timing. You might want to try a 25% xylene to premium fuel mix. Buy a couple gallons of Xylene at your local paint supply house. Add one gallon Xylene to 3 gallons pump premium. This will give you an honest 100 octane. If the knock goes away, then you have fuel/timing issues. If it doesn't go away, your problem is likely some kind of false knock. It could be anything from a header leak, exhaust rattle, to a simple loose bracket. May even be crappy fuel.
