  • Need help with engine terminology...

    Hey guys,
I just got a Palm Pilot that has the ability to put error codes and other engine information from any ODB-II GM car. I have been getting all kinds of data from my engine, but I am not sure what some of it means. If any of you guys could help me with some of this terminology I would greatly appreciate it. Some of them I know what they are... But I am not sure if & how they would be helpful in tuning & montoring my engines performance

    1)Long Term Fuel Trim
    2)Short Term Fuel Trim
    3)Manifold Air Pressure
    4)O2 Sensor Readout
    5)Throttle Position Sensor
    6)Injector Pulse Width
    7)Knock Retard
    8)Mass Air-Flow Frequency
    9)Throttle Position Sensor Volts
    10)Mass Air Flow

    Thanks

Check out Fred's website (aka Injuneer). He has some good write-ups concerning just this thing.

      Try my
      online Scanner Guide.

Long and boring, but it should help explain what each of those items is, and what values to look for in your scans.
