  • Where can I find this info?

I've been googling endlessly, in an attempt to find out how much different motors weigh. I'm just curious to see what different motors weigh. Does anyone know where I could find the weight of different GM motors?
Red 95 Trans Am: M6, Moroso CAI, Magnaflow, Spohn sway bars, back to life as of 2/15/10!!!
    SOLD- Kinda miss it
94 Del Sol VTEC: 27 city/ 33 highway, knee deep in slowness
    SOLD- Good riddance!
2006 Ford Fusion: 2.3, 5 speed, could run 15lbs of boost with a 150 shot and it'd still be slow

You're going to find that there are no real consistently accurate numbers out there. Some people weigh them with different heads, different rotating assemblies, different accesories, some with accesories, some without, etc..

A complete aluminum headed Gen II LT1 with accesories, will weigh close to 470-475 lbs. GM claims that the LS1 complete with accesories weighs 380. Additionally, in the GM LS1 service manual, it specifies a 183 lb weight for the 6.0L iron block and a 91 lb weight for the aluminum LS1 block.

When I pulled out my LT1 the first time, we weighed the bare block with main caps at 204 lbs.

Thanks FastTA. I've been hanging around thirdgen.org a bit, and they seem to argue a lot over there. Some of the things they argue about are weight and weight distribution, due to different motors being in the car. I've been going nuts looking for the aluminum block for the 3.8 that Joe had mentioned a while back. Guess I'll keep searching
