  • Can you use a stock converter with long tubes?

I have been reading for hours here this morning and can not find a thread that talks about this topic. I have found some header topics that mention just about anything else including using long tubes on a lowered car.

Can someone who is doing this please chinme in?

What headers and y-pipe are you using?

You mean a stock catalytic converter? You would have to relocate it, have a custom Y-pipe made, and it would probably be too small for any decent flow.

Your best bet, if you need cats is to go for a pair of bullet type high flow cats and fit them in the Y-pipe. FLP makes a complete set of LT's, with the Y-pipe, dual bullet cats, dual "test pipes" to swap for the cats, and all emissions connections, for example. With Hooker and most of the others, you need to find someone who makes a Y-pipe or have one made by a local shop.

The LT's by definition will not pass "visual" emissions, if they enforce it and know what they are looking at, since they relocate a single cat, or change the number of converters if you go for dual cats.
