  • 160,875,000 Compressions!!!

I just did some math... If my car has 143,000 miles on it and I turn about 3000 RPM @ 80mph... Then if my car was driven 80mph for the entire 143,000 miles... Then each one of my valve springs have been compressed 160,875,000 times! I think I am going to replace those springs!

    1500 compressions per minute @ 80mph
    1500 x 60 = 90000 compressions per 80 miles
    143000 / 80 = 1787.5
    1787.5 x 90000 = 160,875,000

Its probably higher than that... because in lower gears, the engine turns faster at lower speeds.
    No F-Body right now

WOW! I just replaced my 3800 V6 after doing the math. Imagine how many times your struts go up and down..How many times your clutch is pushed..brakes, spark plug firing, lights on and off, light housings up and down ( exept for the drivers side, right)..doors open and closed....Seats moved back and forth, turn signals flipped, gears shifted, rear gears turned!!!!!!aahhhhhhhahahahahahahahahahahaahhaahhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Okay I replaced the engine because I am a dope and it overheated..BTW for R and R for a 3800 V6 including the engine, the grand total comes in at a cool $4995.00. 2800 for the crate motor...the rest for the install. Oh yeah and he had it for 2 months!!!!!

          Cheers
