Scanner for 93's

With advancing age and mileage, it seems like a good time to add a scanner to the toolbox in order to keep my two 93 Z-28's running. Is there a recommended scanner out there for a "reasonable" price?

Auto Xray and Actron make decent hand held scanners that don't cost a lot. There are also options to use a laptop or PC with a special cable and software if you want to go that route.

I've used a buddy's laptop with TTS Datamaster and am pleased. While we're on the topic, what about an ABS scanner?
