  • The modding shall continue...

... I told myself that if I didn't run a 14.xxx at the track I was going to stop modding my car. Well, 69 degrees, 50% humidity, jack and spare out, 1/2 tank of gas, big fat heavy wheels and tires on (definatly need to get some spare lighter wheels). Got 2 runs in tonight because it was so crowded and a few cars broke.

First run against a turbo civic (ran a 15.5, lol)

    R/T... .385 (not bad)
    60'... 2.162 (new best)
    330'... 6.296
    1/8... 9.620
    MPH... 73.77
    1000... 12.491
    1/4... 14.896 (new best)
    MPH... 94.12 (current best)

Second run against bolt on LT1 camaro (ran a 13.2)

    R/T... .356 (not bad)
    60'... 2.142 (current best)
    330'... 6.269
    1/8... 9.594
    MPH... 73.84
    1000... 12.474
    1/4... 14.884 (current best)
    MPH... 93.93

I was surprised that my second run was better because I got A LOT of wheel hop. I was satisfied with my runs Whatcha think?

Looks like its responding well to the mods. Wheel hop issues might require a good set of tubular LCA's and the LCA relocation brackets.

Is the 160degF t'stat a proven HP producer for the V6? That seems low for an engine that probably left the factory with a 195degF 'stat. Do the V6's see a decent gain out of underdrive pullies.... might be a way to pick up a few more ponies.

Good to see that kind of performance, and there's more to be had.

There's a guy in our area running 13's NA in his V6 M5 Camaro so it can be done. Keep up the work.

You're prolly talking about Craig (little G) or Lance (wickedsix). Craig's got some pretty extensive tuning as well as alot of weight reduction but I hope to eventually catch up to him. Lance has heads and cam so that explains him. As far as the LCAs go I aleready have a nice set of boxed LCAs and they worked wonders until I lowered the car. Now my next mod will be relocation brackets. As far as the pulleys are concerned, they only make them for the 3.4L. They make a water pump pulley and an altenator pulley for the 3.8L but from what I hear they aren't cost effective at all. The 160* T'stat is low to most but I live in florida so it's a bit different for me. I'm not sure if it helps too much but I know that it does enough for me having paid $15 for it

EDIT: I just saw that you're in NJ which means you were talking about Craig. He's my motivation for modding the car since he's gotten so far with so few mods.

Yup, Craig has done a lot of tuning and gone on a serious diet.
