  • LE1 driveshaft VS LS1 driveshaft

Ok, I'm looking to get a driveshaft because I believe its the cause of the vibration in my car coming from speeds greater than 75 mph...

My question is which do I want, an 1LE or LS1?

    Or does it not matter?

    Thanks!

1LE is what you want as the LS1 ibelive is a different spline and length, dont quote me but there is a difference. A 1LE from 86-97 will work, but the 93+ 1LE has a dampener on it, so it is more desireable.

I thought they were fully interchangeable?

From what I've heard, the 1LE shaft is a little stronger even though the LS1 shaft is a hair larger in diameter. Yes, they are interchangeable

I have an LS1 in mine. I got it from http://www.tennesseeauto.com/ for I think $100.

Either one will work. The 1LE shaft does not have a damper on it, only the steel shaft does. If you want something a little stronger and aluminum, go with the 1LE. I've got it, works great, recommend it to everyone. If you don't care either way, the LS1 shaft will work fine. Just be warned, there are horror stories about the LS1 shaft breaking under hard launching with sticky tires. Hope this helps.

Is the best place to get one at gmpartsdirect.com?

                  Thanks for the help!

After shipping, yes, they're gonna be the cheapest. Just expect to wait at least a week before it arrives...after it ships. They aren't the fastest people around, but the price is right a lot of the times. www.paceparts.com is also a good alternative for the 1LE shaft, but they're cost before shipping is more than GMPartsDirect's after shipping. Hope this helps.
