Heard a lot of good stuff about Blizzaks, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to pay $111 for a winter tire.
What do you all recommend regardless of cost....and on a budget?

the B's are ur best bet if you have to "everyDayDRive" in the winter.

Best ET: 13.41 @ 103.80 MPH (@600 FT) with these Mods: SLP 2L/2R Exhaust, K&N FIPK, LT4 KM, 4.10 GM Superior gears, BMR LCAs & relocation brackets, Energy Suspension Poly Tranny Mount, 160 degree thermostat, HPP3 ( mostly for speedo & fan recalibration), MSD 6AL Ignition & MSD Blaster Coil and all the free mods.

Owning 2 cars oftentimes drops premiums. I paid $150 a month for my T/A when it was the primary driver. I fixed my rx-7, reinsured it, put it as primary driver, dropped the T/A to 'recreational use/stored in winter', and insurance went to $122 for BOTH cars.
Having a beater:
A) Saved me $28 a month on insurance
B) Saved me from nerveracking winter driving
C) No salt/gravel damage on my baby
D) Saved a lot of hard miles on my T/A
E) A lot of stinkin gas money.
How can you lose?

Have you had experience with Michelin's Arctic Alpin? -I have been impressed with my set (two seasons of experience) but then again, I haven't had a chance to compare them to another winter tire.Originally posted by wolfman

I suggest a set of knobby swampers...attached to a first gen s-10 blazer or s-15 Jimmy 4X4. Works for me. I never let my baby see snow. I shiver just thinking about wiping out sideways on curve or something. What someon said above with dropping insurance is true! I actually pay less with three cars then I would with one!

Well, here's some facts:
I have 2 cars on my insurance. I don't always have the 2nd available. I'm currently paying almost $300/month insurance. I'm 27 have no tickets or convictions and no claims on my account. The company is USAA and they generally have excellent value compared to the others. New Jersey sucks for car insurance rates!! It's 3x what I paid in Virginia!!! I gotta get outta this state!
But the Navy says go to Jersey, so here I am.
Any-who....I want to be able to drive my car in bad weather if necessary and the Firehawk SZ50's ain't gonna cut it in slush or snow.
Found a good deal on the Blizzaks.......Joe K.

its a very good tire. exspensive.........but good. it was right behind the bridgestones on ice traction though, which is a critcal component of the winter tire testing procedure.Originally posted by MS94TA
