Just installed Hypertech coil,,check engine

light just came on when I started it.

Is this becayse of increased voltage?

Car seems to turn normaly and doesn't show any symptoms?

Is this normal or dangerous?

Can this be turned off with edit??

No it is not normal. Everything hooked back up? Get the code read before you change anything else.

could it be because the coil is for a 93????

reset or clear the light, reinstall the old coil and see if the light goes back on.

Something about the aftermarket coils I don't like. Stock should be fine for our cars. What did the plugs look like?

Unless you are having ignigtion problems or plugs are not firing there should be no reason to change it.

Joe I don't have a scanner handy so I took Bandits advice and reinstalled the stock coil and there is no more code??

WEIRD,,,,is there a way to check a coil like ours??

OBDI and OBDII coils are different. That's why the SES light. Just curious, why did you change it?

A very good friend gave it to me so I wanted to put it to use right away.

He had it on a 93 Z and I wanted to use it on my 94 Z,I noticed that instead of the lopy LT4 HotCam idle that was usual,with the new coil it was tamer,was that because it had gone into safety mode with the check engine light??

Will try it again thursday when I have my LCAs changed at the garage,he will be able to scan it if it gives a code again.

My mechanic was wondering if it could be the module below that was problematic?

I have never had spark or ignition problems[besides opti 5 years ago],the car is running great!!

after you installed the coil, did the car run differently at all??

I installed an ACCEL coil on mine and the car ran horrible, wouldn't even start a few times,

my plugs were shot then too, if that matters?

It ran smoother if anything with the new coil,like a stock engine almost,when I put old coil back got back to normal rough lopy idle!!!
