  • Moser 12 bolt installed!

Just got mine installed today - what a difference in the two rears seeing them sitting side by side! Makes you realize just how puny the stock 10 bolt is. The Moser is a work of art and looks real good underneath the car. Did the break in as per Moser's instructions - no real issues with the 4.11's, a slight whine at 50mph or so, but nothing serious or even noticeable unless you're really listening for it. But I now have some SERIOUS traction issues, even with drag radials . I'll be heading to the track this weekend but I'm going to have to learn to drive this thing all over again now *L*. I'll be definitely needing slicks now to take full advantage - but it's REAL nice know I'll be actually able to launch on slicks with out worrying about the rear anymore.

P.S. just one small fly in the ointmen - all the parts where there except the fitting for the axle tube vent hole. Made do with another part though.

To sum up, I'm VERY happy with the new 12 bolt!

    You definitely have traction problems.
    What are your 60's?

    I hit 12.5@109 with A4..1.73 60'

Congrats on getting the 12 bolt in Bill.

Do you find that the rear end sits higher now that you've got the Moser in?

I remember Warbird and SSteveL saying that they found a slight increase in the rear ride height after they had their 12 bolts installed.

I can say that is true of mine - it sits higher with the Moser. Probably something with the location of the spring perches. Didn't get a chance to compare it with the old unit - I sold the crusty little thing the minute it was ripped out of there...

Thanks Steve ...yes the car definitely sits higher, I'd say at least a half inch or so. I meant to measure the fender lip to ground distance before getting the 12 bolt put it - but forgot all about it...stupid brain *L*. Unfortunately, with the long tubes on there coupled with the truly terrible roads around here, lowering the car is not an option .

Kevin, "crusty little thing" describes the old rear PERFECTLY LOL!

              Forget about lowing it Bill.

I've had my SLP LT's on for about a month now and I think I've scraped on everything from a pop can to a lady bug

I may have to install my old Global West spring collars with a wider collar base to get some additional height in the rear...........that or install a 12 bolt

SLP LT's and Bilstein suspension are definately a combination that needs some careful thought. I'm just lucky I don't usually have more than one passenger in the car.

There ya go Steve - more justification for the new rear!

I have the FLP LT's and even they tuck up better than SLP's (a buddy has those on his Z28), I still scrape over most speed bumps

Did you change your driveshaft? Did you check the length, to insure there is adequate clearance between the front slider and the back of the tranny? A number of people have had to shorten the DS with the Moser to avoid damaging the tranny.

Thanks for the tip Fred, but yep...double checked and all ok . I am getting a new DS too though as a buddy just installed the same Moser setup on his '02 a couple weeks back and on his second trip to the track nuked the stock aluminum one. So I'm just sticking (pardon the pun *L*) to Nitto's until I do.

Just an update on how the new rear performed at the track - dropped 3 tenths off my previous best, going from 12.94 to 12.64 with no other changes .

                        Street tires? A4 or M6?

Nice improvement... and it will only get better!!

On Nitto's in an M6. I use the DR's as a daily tire - got 1.8 60's out of 'em that day. Looking forward to some ET streets for next spring and being able to chop a few more tenths off then .
