  • How do I protect the car when I bring it in?

I am bringing my a car in to have the nose painted on it. I get to get rid of that Bra! Yahhooo!

I know alot of you guys set your rev limiters to avoid beatings on your cars. My PCM was done by Ed wright and I dont think I can get in with the hypertech anymore. Are there any other good ways you guys can think of to keep my car from getting thrashed?
If im doing the beating, thats one thing, but I dont want anyone else playing with it.

if you go in the pcm with a hPP you will totally screw up ed's work and end up having all kinds of probs, broh.

why not just sit down and talk to the manager. record your mileage,..and tell him "under no circumstances is this car to be driven off this lot. its in for body work, a test drive is not required. if for some reason it must be driven, call me and i will come down and drive it. "

you are the customer, man. its your right. and tell him if there is mileage on odometer over what it was when you turned it in you will contact you will take legal action.

take a pic of the odometer when you drop it off.

i know this sounds harsh, but if you are that afraid of them trashing your car, short of removing the wheels... what can you do?

Take pictures of the car from all four sides, and take a picture of the odometer when you arrive if you have digital camera. Prepare a form, attach the pics, write a description of condition and work being done, and set two lines for yours and the manager signatures. Talk to the Manager, and be really nice to him...not accusatory. You know, something to the effect that you are bringing it to this place because you hear good things about it, but I know that sometimes an employee will get a wild hair to take out muscle cars so here are the pics, the description, and the mileage, have him sign a form with the car's condition, and relay that on to those working on it. It is the best way, but you won't get anywhere unless you are really nice about it.

Make sure you write down all of the damage in your description such as interior and exterior marks, scratches, and blemishes. Also, write down the mileage when you arrive on the form.

This for will be your vehicle condition report which they are responsible to adhere to. It won't necessarily hold up in court unless you get it notarized, but it makes the point.

Yea thats probably what i'll do. Its not a shop, its one of those friend of a friend deals, so it is a little awkward reading him the riot act. I talked to him shortly after posting and explained that I really didnt feel comfortable having him drive (in a nice way). I told him the clutch is super sensitive and most people have a hard time driving it anyways; which is true. He seemed like he didnt want to mess with driving. So, we'll see. Taking pics is a good idea.

I'll post some finished pics when its done.
