  • 350 tranny

    got the 350 crate engine from gm and want to know if it will bolt into the trans from a 5.0 tbi stock auto tranny and run close to a stock feel. should the tranny be regeared?

    specs on car
    base firebird '91
    4 spd auto stock
    305 tbi stock

    What year are you trying to put this in I'm guessing a third gen if its a 305 tbi and if its a gm crate engine I think it might fit in with the stock tranny but let us have somemore information, im sure other people will jump in now though.

      All gen 1 small block engines bolt to all gen 1 small block trans. A 305 and 350 are the same outside dimentions so they will swap all trans. for that matter 283,302,305,327,350,400 all share the same mounts. all gen 2 SB engines swap also.

        If its a 3rd gen.. You have a 700R4 trans. It will be fine.

          Yes, the bellhousing bolt pattern and the crank to flexplate bolt pattern will be identical. 100% compatible swap.

          Re-gear the trans? Are you talking about changing the individual ratios?
