The MSD coils are not "simple" replacement coils.... they provide multiple spark discharge, and are designed to interface with a future "controller" that MSD has yet to make public. One might guess that it allows things like boost referenced timing or preset timing retard for nitrous, revised rev limits, and various things that are currently controlled by the MSD products like the Digital-6.
