  • Trouble code P0440

I have a 2000 Camaro V6 and have a code of P0440 evap system. Does anyone have any suggestions?

P0440 = Missing gas cap or gross leak in evap system.

EVAP is the charcoal canister in the driver's side rear fender that collects gasoline vapors from the fuel tank. The engine uses vacuum to pull the gasoline vapors into the intake manifold so they can be burned in the engine.

Your gas cap could be missing, loose, have a bad gasket, or one of the vacuum lines in the system is leaking.

I know this sounds stupid but I watched a guy at the emissions place do this to solve that problem. Clean the gasket on the gas cap and reset the computer.
