Aw, Tom... dont feel bad. We all know the LT1 camaro is better looking than the LS1 Camaro. I dont care how sweet the LS1 is in the Camaro... I cant stand the way the nose looks.
I'll take my Camaro with the LT1, thank you.

No biggie. My "crappy" LT1 still puts me sideways when I give it 3/4 throttle in first gear I just can't imagine spending $800 on headers, at least $400 for a new cat-back, 400+ on my suspension, $600 on a RAII hood and still not have the show or go of an LS1 Trans Am. To top it all off, my LS1 will have t-tops which my lady friend loves.
In all honesty, 1SickBird's car is the nicest I've ever seen (hope you don't mind me posting this)-
Sorry to hijack the thread.

ok boys and girls...fine...NEW PLAN...this is an urgent and important announcement
i'm still going to go ahead with gears and nitrous this spring/summer...
whether i sell the car the summer after that or even a year beyond that is the question
THEN i purchase the fabled LS1 TA...this time with T Tops...i sell my custom sub box, buy a nice 12" so ic an still hold my t-tops...keep it black...maybe black leather this time...all the while breaking more or less even due to sale price and intended price on front end conversion
if i get the itch to spend money in the mean time...i can do rims and tires that i can keep to put on the LS1...then LT4 is out...and i formulate a new plan for the LS1 from there....capeesh?
haha now THAT sounds like a plan, lol sometimes being a pains in the @$$ is the best way to show that we care about the other members getting the best they can out their money and ride.

well to be honest buying an LS1 never crossed my brain...i dont' know if it was on my unattainable list and hence flew under my radar or what but now damn...yesterday was my last day to study for finals..and my buddies and i wasted an hour and a half of that time with this message board on the screen, punching numbers...searching around and discussing it all...it was good times
I had the exact same ideas you did, back in '99. I loved the look of an LS1 WS6 and planned out new fenders, hood, bumper, light covers, etc. And I loved my own T/A. After a while, I dropped the idea because I realized that I really like the LT1 style T/A, especially in black. Plus, I thought why should I "be" a car that I'm not...even though I like the style. So your idea of getting an LS1 car, rather than changing your style is good.

Like Dave M said - if it was not for you wanting the 98 conversion I would say have at it with your current car. These guys are not saying that the LT1 is not worth putting money into. Almost everyone of these guys has an LT1 and a good portion of them will run right with or beat LS1s. With the exception of the optispark system the LT1 is a very good motor with tons of potential. You can build an LT1 that has more power than you can handle. What are your goals for the car - drag racer, show car, weekend warrior, road racer....etc. I think you can build the LT1 to be whatever you want it to be. If you are OK with the current front end on the car (I actually prefer the front end on the pre-98 Camaros) and can live with it I say stick with your current car.

WoW! Price - $ 12,750. It does have an LS1, but unfortunately it IS still a 94.
You get the perks of the LS1 without having to look like a Chrysler. You're right though. That would be kinda like charging $10k+ for an LS1 third gen.
