  • Looking for people who own(ed) PaceSetter LT's/Y-Pipe. (College budget setup)

    Hello,

I'm sure some of you have seen my post on here before asking about headers and what not. Well, currently I'm in college and with paying for tutuion/books money is pretty tight for me. I still however want to continue modding my car and the next thing on my list is headers. I want to run coated LT's on my 95 LT1 Camaro and after crunching the numbers for a whole setup, headers like Kooks, DynaTech, and Jet Hot are just out of my budget. I'm seeing a few sites right now are running specials and I can get my hands on a set of coated Pacesetter LT's with the Y-Pipe for less than $520 (before shipping). My question is can someone give me some info on these headers? Anything like quality, fitment issues, ground clearance, and just about anything else would be appreciated. I know I'm kind of looking at the bottom of the LT bucket here but more expensive headers are just something I cannot afford right now.

    Thanks,

    Chris

I got PS LTs and Y-pipe...honestly, I can't compare them with any other sets of headers because these are my first. The fitment is decent. Not leaks except for the egr...which I had to bypass. The tick tick tick drove me nuts. Besides that, everything fit okay It's been 3 months, and the coating is still looking good. Welds are clean.

I did the swap myself...which was wayyy too hard for most people. I was practically pulling my hair out after the second night of cuts and bruises. I had to because shops charged an arm and a leg for the install. Whatever, I did it myself and all any shop had to do was weld.

I'm not so sure how much different LT1s are from LS1s...but I'm sure it's just has tedious.

The PS LTs were a lot lighter than the stock manifolds too... They are fine for the price. I suggest you save your money and concentrate on school.

I've heard nothing but good things about Pacesetter headers. Quality, fitment, etc... Tons of guys on cz28 praise them all the time. Only brands that I've read people having a problem with is BBK.

I put coated PaceSetter LTs and their y-pipe on my 95 back in the spring. Quality is fine, as far as I can see. I have not lowered my car, so I have not had any ground clearance issues. The worst part of the install was getting the EGR off and reconnected. I did not have to jack the engine, and did the install in my garage with the car on jack stands and ramps.

I did have a bit of hitting of the lower body from the flattened section of the y-pipe, but some creative spacing took care of that issue.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Will I have do anything different for my install since I have a convertible? Will SFC's get in the way?
