Does anyone make a manual rack to directly replace a power unit on gen 4 f-bodys?

  • #2
I've thought about it...but it's hard enough to drive a beater 92 Civic without PS with 185 wide tires.

I'd hate to try to turn without PS in our cars...

But if it'll free up some HP and gives you better response and feel...hey, go for it.

There are quite a few available. Flaming River, Aerospace Engineering, and Madman and Co. to name a few.

What are your goals with the car?

This is a drag race only car. Is the Flaming Rivers rack a direct replacement? Rules require no modifications.

Yes it is a direct bolt-in, BUT....you will still have to piece the rest of the Flaming River rack together. You will need 2 u-joints at $70 each, a piece of 18" "D" stock at about $50, you will have to make your own tierod sleeves and buy heim joints $50.00, a bumpsteer kit which will run somewhere around $150. Then after you have everything pieced together, you will need to find a way to mount the rack to the k-member.

Madman's complete rack may be a little pricey, but it is well worth the time and hassle you will save yourself.

BTW, all of the aftermarket bolt-in manual racks are just pinto racks.
