Yes, a fairly stock one - that's a non factory freak. From what I've seen, stock average A4 LS1s put down anywhere between 275 to 295 RWHP. M6s are around 285 to 310...those are of course the average ones, not the factory freaks. You're right on par with those numbers...the LS1s are lighter, but you've got gears, so that's almost a wash.
Now of course, RWHP estimates and measured numbers really don't mean much until you've got some timeslips...get that 60' down and you'll take many of them, no problem

the late 2001 and 2002 LS1's were putting down more HP than that on the average...auto and m6's......
he'd do much better with a bigger cam, especially since he's got a 52mm tb......
That's true...the '01s and '02s do put down more power. I did witness an '02 dyno. It had a flowmaster exhaust and A4. He put down 291 and 297 on 2 runs. On the same dyno, a '00 with a A4, lid, magnaflow catback and a pretty good A/F ratio (better than the '02 Z28) put down 301. It shows that the '02 was better out of the box.
Either way, I think running with LS1s is one thing, but walking one would be a stretch. So I think the answer may depend the definition of "compete".

Hmmm.... I don't seem to have any problems running with the LS1's (not the SS or WS6)... I mean I can't remeber having one ever pull more than one length on me... I never put much thought in it but is it possible she's a factory freak?? I never thought the LS1 had that much more power than the LT1 because of this.

Well the cold air package closes the HP gap some, but if you went against a driver with equal skills and a cold air car like you have, then it might be a different story. In the meantime, do whatever you have to do to your car so that you pull a car length on them instead of them pulling a length on you

Even the non factory freak LS1's are 60+ more HP at the crank than a LT1. It takes quite a few mods to an LT1 to hang with an LS1. LS1's also take to mods significantly better than LT1's due mainly to their superior intake manifold and heads....And when was the last time you saw a stock LS1?
BTW, a simple cam swap, lid, CAI, and full exhaust on an LS1 can easily net over 400 RWHP.

Non SS or WS6 f-bodies with the LS1 are not significantly slower than their "upgraded" counterparts. In fact, Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords achieved a 12.8 in a bone stock Z28 - not an SS.
0-60 you should stay pretty even with them, or maybe even be ahead... it's the higher mph and higher revs where the LS1 car will overcome the LT1 car.
Former Ride: 2002 Pontiac Trans Am WS6 - 345 rwhp, 360 rwtq... stock internally.
Current Ride: 2006 Subaru Legacy GT Limited - spec.B #312 of 500

I raced a couple in my 97 ws6 and up to about 40 mph we were together but after that it was all tail lights if they could drive it halfway decent. In the 1/4 stock ofcourse the lt1 ws6 would run high 13's low 14's(mine was 13.7) and the ls1 ws6 would run low, low 13's if not high 12's. I ran a 99 ws6 6sp with a borla muffler and a k+n filter to 13.89@110.01.
97 ws6 6sp 40k miles 355 cubes strange s 60 rear 373 gears. other stuff! 360rwhp
I you race an auto LS1 it would likely be close, but you will probably have a hard time outrunning a M6..but you won't be far behind. Also keep in mind that your vert is heavier.
Basicaly like Craig and Jay eluded to. The LS1's come alive on the top, so that's where you don't want to race one is a highway roll. Light to light you might be alright. I'm a poet and didn't even know it.....I make a rhyme every time......ok stop Kev!
