Well I found a 1998 Trans Am with 140k on the clock for 6900...he said the price is negotiable..He has to get rid of it because his insurance is going to drop if not. Its got all the power options, monsoon, leather interior, keyless entry and so on. It does have the Ram-Air hood on it but not the actual ram-Air itself..chrome wheels and he said the engine runs strong no oil leaks or anything... I was jus curious if thats asking too much...thanks!

Thats not a bad price at all i dont think. Tell the guy like 6500, i think LS1's are very strong motors and as long as it was taken care of it can get 200k+ out of it. LimTeng has like 170k on it and still runs strong. Go for it.1996 Trans Am:T-tops,graphite leather,16" chrome T/A rims, Nitto's, Descreened MAF, Morosso CAI, hypertech, flowtech cut out, 1LE elbow, Silver BMR tubular SFC's, 160 thermo, limo tint, harwood ws6 hood, !side molding, Stage 2 trans.
Looking for a driver side window.

I think it might be a little high for the miles...I bought my 98 Z back in Sept...the guy was asking $6900 for it, I got it for $6500...it has 93k miles and is loaded with everything except the chrome wheels, but did have new tires...I seen another one a couple of weeks ago around the same miles, options, and asking price...there goin' cheap in Indiana...lolTom Rawlinson

Sounds good to me but see what is rock bottom on price is. Now is a good time to buy if you have the money. Everybody spent theres on Christmas so you are probley the only one looking at it. And if it is close to home that is plus.Just check it out real good an take your time. Good luck Blazer

I dont have a whole lot to spend...I will have enough to rebuild it later on but really depends on the test drive. Its very close to home less than 15 miles away lol...I see it about everyday..loved it since I seen it. I dont really mind the mileage because these are pretty dependable cars. Thanks for the comments though! :-D

The LS1 cars dont really have a special "ramiar" box. The hood just directs air to the slot at the front of the airbox.Tracy

damn good deal if you can get it for 6500. Go for it dude. An LS1 trans am? Those with less miles go for like 10-12. So take it for 6500, and with the 5k you saved cause of high miles, have the motor rebuilt and do all the regular maintnence. Miles on a car do not scare me. It's kinda over rated. I've seen cars go for 300k, i've seen cars need rebuilds at 90k. It's all about how it was maintained.97 Chevy 'Raro Z28 M6- Ported & Polished LT1 heads,beehives,1.6/1.94 valves, 226/231 custom cam,K&N FIPK, 94-95 BBK shorty's,ORY,Magnaflow Catback,no cats,BMR LCA Relocation Brackets,Lower Control Arms,Adjustable Panhard Bar,Eibach Pro Kit,SPEC Stage 1,Walbro 255 Fuel Pump,30LB Injectors,Pro 5.0,Short stick,MSD 8.5's,NGK TR55's,LT4KM

I'd have to agree with Kev on this one. At 140k parts start getting tired. You say you don't mind putting some money into a built motor later, but do you honestly want to have to worry about all that downtime with a car that is new to you. I think you should just save a little more and shoot for something under 100k.

The engine's one thing, but high mileage cars start to have problems with all the seals in the trans, rear, AC, power steering, engine, fuel pump, injectors, bearings, all the lifetime lubed suspension parts, steering linkage, door hinges, light bulbs in the dash, shocks, brakes - rotors & master cylinders, ignition switch, and on and on and on..... And a '98 might just have some of the problems that the first year LS1 models had with the engine, fuel lines, & brakes.
Anyway, if you decide to get it, do the smart thing and split the cost of having a reputable mechanic give it a thorough inspection and ask the owner for a service history. Then do a carfax and make sure it wasn't smacked. If you don't have a lot of money, then the last thing you need is something that is going to cost you more money ona monthly basis than a newer car would cost when you add repairs to financing.

If this guy has to get rid of it, becuase his insurance will drop other wise.....how well has he really treated it? Not saying he didn't do regular up keep, but he must of been regular at doing donuts and burn outs and races to be threatened to be droped. Just what I would be thinking about, good luck either way you go.2006 Saturn Ion Redline

i dont know..i talked him down to 6500...he said the tranny was rebuilt less than 1,000 miles ago.. I may or may not get it I have a week til my check clears..yea i can get an 97 and lower cheaper with less miles but i really do not like that body style at all...The body is in excellent condition and it ran strong. the engine made less noise than mine. had good pick up..didnt shift funny or anything. all the power options worked fine. i guess im going to have to put some more thinking into it. only prob is there isnt many around here and when they are they want an arm and a leg for one. i really dont want to have to drive half-way across the country to pick one up or have it shipped...shipping gets expensive. eh usually things are too good to be true so ill probably end up screwed in the end...nothings ever what it seems...i just dont know :-(
