  • LS1 normal running temp?

    my kid brother picked up a 99 ta. what temp is normal riunning temp?
    6 speed - stock but for cat back. whats normal whats hot give me numbers please.

      Mine usually runs around 1/4.....not sure of the #...I've been driving the station wagon too much to remember...I hate winter

        My needle always read just to the left of straight up... so just less than 210.

        I only saw it go up above 210 after a couple hot laps on the drag strip.

          The temp gauge in the '99 and up models is really just a dummy guage. It'll read about the center once the car is warmed up and won't move unless an overheat condition exists. It's a little disconcerting because I'm used to seeing it fluctuate on my '96Z. I think you'd need a scanner to tell what the actual temp is.
