  • Those with 93-97 SS or SS style hoods, step in here a minute.....

I picked up a used SS (style) hood for a 93-97. I've seen suncoast hoods and this isn't one of them. The air intake is functional but the underside has no drain holes for water. The underside is completely finished off except for a small area where the hood would seal to the airbox. It is a bolt on hood that appears to be very well made, but I'm stumped as the manufacturer. My main question is for those of you that have an SS or SS style hood, how is the underside of the hood set up for water drainage? For me to be satisfied I'm going to add water drainage holes so that in the event that I make this functional, there is no chance of water buildup that could hit the filter.

So far, this is the only photo of the topside. I'll take a pic of the underside soon. The grill pops into place, obviously it needs to be sanded and repainted, but that's part of why I got a great deal. Also curious if anyone recognizes this hood............

The hood appears closest to the rksport hood.

I'll check my 96 SS when I get home. But I don't recall seeing any water drain holes in my stock SS hood so don't rule out it's a real SLP SS hood.

DOH! I was working on the car last night doing my Pacesetter header install and I completely forgot to look at the hood. I'll look at it tonight.

oooo... that's fun! I actually love header installs. I just hate the bolts.

Mine is made by American Sports Car Design. The grille on yours looks to be very similar, if not the same. Maybe this picture will help.

I'll have to look at the bottom for you. I won't have time tonight, but hopefully I'll get to it tomarrow.

Well, I'm at work right now and they won't allow me to bring my car into the building so I leave it at home in my garage. I'm not sure what you don't get.

My car is only a mile away, but I work full time and go to school full time. Tuesday and Thursday are already spoken for from 8:00am to midnight.

That too. At home I have an oversized garage that holds 3 cars plus all my shop equipment. My large circular driveway can hold perhaps 8 if code enforcement didn't care. I do keep most of my extra parts inventory in storage about a 1/2 mile away. I have room to work outside, plus loads of room inside.

That does look close, especially around the grill area.

My hood has no drain holes in it. But it has cast into the fiberglass on the driver's side "Made in Canada" and "HMP 5994" under that. It looks very similar to the ASC hood you linked to above.
