  • Rims, should I buy???????

So, a friend of mine has a set of C6 wheels and tires he will sell me for $1000. They are 18" for the front and 20" rear. I also have the Eibach Pro Kit which I belive will lower the car 2". Will these wheels fit when I install the springs or is the 20" rears gonna be far too big.

If you go with a very low profile tire and the diameter is close to the original 275/40-17, you shouldn't have a problem assuming the offsets on the wheels are similar.

However, C6 rims were 19 rear, 18 front so you might want to double check the offsets and such.

I will look into the sizes a bit more. My dad knows the guy and this is what dad told me. I am more concerned with fittment with the Eibach kit. I will check back with exact sizes.

last year I bought c6 rims for my car, all of them 18" there also 9.5" wide. The guy I bought them off of told me after the fact that he needed spacers to get the front to fit in w/o rubbing when you turn. As it stands now he is going to replace the front rims w/ aftermarket ones that are 8.5 wide(not happy and still ). I have the rear set (they look amazeing) but I haven't put them onto the car yet. The size of rubber for the back I have is 35 x 275 x 18 so the ride hight is the same.
To fit the 20" rims in the back you will most likely have to do some work on the car's body if your lowering your car too. For winter I have another set of tires/rims but same ride hight but with extra weight in the back (which pushes down a bit on the body) and in long cornners going quickly I actuly can here the back tires rubbing on the body (I think).
I love how the rims look and have seen a few (varry few) pics of f-bodys with them on, however in the end I whish I had bought 17" rims with nice rubber and no hassle from a store bought specificly to fit onto my car.

This is turnning into a novel but another thing is with 20" rims in the back you wont have much wall thickness on the tires if you want to keep the ride hight which means every pot hole you go over has a chance to damage the rims.

Thats kinda the story I was looking for. I dont want any hassle or any rubbing so I think I will stick with 18". I still may buy his set and then just sell the rear 20" on Ebay and buy some 18" for the rear. Dunno, but thanks for the help.

            Glad I could help.
Those rims were the most expencive thing I bought off of ebay and in the end I may have to take the guy to court because he lied about the fits and I waited to long to go thru paypal and ebay. Lesson learned I guess.

You could tell your friend that you want to see if they fit, take them to a good tire place tell them to put them on and have them tell you if there is a problem with them on your car.

For 1000 hes not doing you a real favor price wise, I paid 1300 + 150 s/h US + boarder stuff on mine but I had rubber with them too and that can be alot for 18" low profile tires.

              i've had 18' and 20's all round w/i

with 275-40-18's (runflats) on chrome z06 18x 9.5 aftermarket wheels i had no problems whatsoever with rubbing and i have an eibach pro kit on my car---now i have 20" x 8.5's with 255 width and there is no rubbing at all except when i hit a big bump one rear tire rubs and i know that is because the eibachs lowered the car and shifted the rear sideways---i am gonna get an adjustable panhard bar to fix the problem
