  • Intake Manifold Leak What Do I need ?

I have the ultra black permatex sealer.

do i need an intake manifold gasket ?

or are the ones in there probably going to be strong enough to keep holding i wasn't sure since i went to kens website and it didn't say anything about replacing the gasket.

and if so do i need to ask for 2 gaskets at the store or would the box that i get the gasket in come with 2.

i went to salvos(local auto part store) and asked for an intake manifold gasket and they said it would be 20 bucks and that they would ahve to get someone to deliver it from another store. So im wondering wether the guy will think that i need 2 or not.

Well...... although not recommended, I reuse the intake gaskets if they are in good shape. The part that needs addressing is the front and rear portions of the manifold that are sealed with silicone. That is what cooks and deteriorates. On project 93, all I did was pull the intake, clean it up, reuse the gaskets, add the appropriate silicone and buttoned it up.

The package comes with 2 in it. Do a search for wolfman's writeup on the intake manifold fix. It is good.

Oh....forgot to mention to do it correctly, you'll need the fuel line disconnect tool available at most auto parts stores.

Well the reason im hopping on it is.

either you can wait until its leaking a quart a week. or you can get it done now save the money from buying the extra quarts and eventually you would have spent the money to fix it anyway.
