  • acessory drive belt pulley

I have noticed that on my 95 formula , the accesory belt is not on the big pulley as seen here http://shbox.com/1/temp_sensor1.jpg , but is on a small one behind it .

I was wondering if this is stock or not, because it is different than my 93 trans am

Sounds like someone has added an under drive pulley, to slow down the accessories and reduce HP lost to the drive system. Its not a big saving on the LT1, because the water pump is not driven off the belt.

There are two ways to add an under drive pulley, which must be smaller in diameter than the stock damper/pulley. One is to get a new integrated damper and pulley that totally replaces the stock damper/pulley. The other way is to get a smaller pulley that sandwiches between the stock damper/pulley and the hub. Sounds like you have a sandwich type U/D pulley on there.

What do you think , is it worth keeping it? any benefits if I keep it, how much power, does it affect anything else like charging system , power steering?

IMHO, I would just stick with it since you already have it. The power gains, as Fred said, aren't big, but it's better than nothing. That is, if you haven't had charging problems, etc.
