  • Tire selections

I'm posting this thread for a friend of mine who has 18" x 10.5" Z06 wheels with a 58 mm offset. He needs tires for them now, and was wondering which tire specs he needs. All we need are the specs for the tires, pref 275 in front and 315 out back.
1996 Z-28 6 speed, Airfoil, K&N FIPK, Flowmaster muffler, Motive 3.73 gears, BBK shorty headers, cut-out, LS1 Driveshaft, no power options (Rare), Prothane tranny mount, MSD 8.5mm wires, Accel U-Groove Plugs, Chrome hurst short throw, TB Bypass, ES Torque arm mount, BMR subframe connectors (weld-in), Lt4 Knock Module, Descreened MAF, '02 SS wheels, Pioneer HU, MTX & JL amps, 2 12" JBL's, T-Top Conversion!

He has 18x10.5 wheels on all 4 corners? If its a 4th Gen F-Body its going to be a problem. Not sure what he's putting them on from your question.

A 10.5" wide wheel with a 58mm offset has a 8.0" backspace. That puts the front wheel up against the steering knuckle, and the inside edge of the rear tire into the inner fender wall, or at least close enough that it will take some serious hammering. Would probably require spacers (ughhh) front and rear.

In the front, the tire is also going to be very close to the fender line. Rubbing will probably be a major issue, on heavy compression or at full lock. In the back - hammer the inner fenders, cut the projecting corners off the jounce bumper brackets, maybe recenter the body over the axle with an adjustable panhard rod, maybe roll the fender lip.

The front tire would be a 275/35-18. That is slightly smaller in diameter than stock. A 285/35-18 would be slightly larger than stock, assuming the car came from the factory with the Z-rated tire option.

The rear tire would be a 315/30-18. You are looking at $350/tire minimum.

Thanks for that information Injuneer. Yes, the wheels were for a 98 camaro and there is no way he wants to modify it for them to fit.

My question now is if this wheel will bolt up with no issues.
Heres the link Other Wheels that may fit

These wheels are different. They're 18x9.5 with a 53 mm offset. I just wanted to know if these would fit instead of the larger ones.
