  • Another LT1 Block question

Sorry for my rash of posts recently I'm just trying to find out what would be a good project for me. I talked to this guy today about picking up an LT1 forget what year, but the motor has only a few thousand miles on it. New crank and rods, cam, intake, heads, valve covers and oil pan. Problem is, the engine had a supercharger on it. It wasnt running right and damaged two of the pistons.

The machine shop said that the bores need to be redone, but that they could just do it .030 over and it would be fine. This might make a nice project for me, what do you guys think, and if I was going to make an offer what might be fair?

Depends whether or not they actually redo the cylinder bores and install the rotating assembly for you with new pistons and rings. Might as well do new bearings while your there as well.

If they do all the work for you, and it is a complete fully assembled longblock, I would venture to say it would be worth roughly $1500-2000 depending on which parts are used.
