  • Manual Transmission Questions?

I have a stock T5 borg and Warner Manual 5 speed.
I just got a 355sbc dyno at 400hp at the flywheel and i want to know where to find a new transmission that would be for about 400 to 500 hp. Also it is a Hydrolic Clutch and I would also like to, not make any mods to the body just a straight switch? Let me know Thanks

Please try to incorporate some punctuation and capitilization so that your posts are easier to understand.

That Borg Warner T5 should be able to handle 400 HP at the crank.

I assume you meant that you had a 355ci motor dyno'ed and it put 400 to wheel?

    Check this article out.

Well I have to say that the T5 unless you are gentle won't last long with that much horsepower. They are known to explode second gear when exposed to high horsepower. I don't know of a way to beef it up that much.

I think the best bolt in option is TKO Tremec transmission. (Tremec bought Borg Warner's transmission division several years ago.) The TKO can be bought with the same dimensions as the T5 for your application. Check this link http://www.5speedtransmissions.com/

Another option would be to convert your car to a 6 speed from a F-Body. That would be a bit more expensive but the results would be better in that you'd have a 6th gear. With that 6th you can really get some low rear end gears and still get some street ability. Here is a cross member for the conversion http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1520 Here is some info for the T56 to your application http://www.spohn.net/product.cfm?productid=1343
