  • Modifying Pains...

I thought I fixed everything! Remember guys how I changed out all my O2's. Well on my way to school today after work, the SES came on. Being all anal, I ditch school to figure out what the crap is wrong now.

P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1)
    P1133 - "Manufacturer's control air/fuel meter" <-WTF?
    P0153 - HO2S Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1

All at one time! Hahaha! Not really.

Looks like my O2's are bad...but explain P0420 and P1133. Bank 2...is that the passenger side or dirver side?

Looks like another weekend playing under the car.

P1133 Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) insufficient switching bank 1 sensor 1 (Rear Bank)

P0420 - Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 1) I believe this means either the cat is bad or the rear O2 sensor reading the cat is bad.

Bank 1 Sensor 1 is the driver's side pre-cat sensor, not "rear bank".

Seems you've got codes for 3 of the 4 sensors you replaced. Are you sure you have the correct sensors? Did you contaminate them when installing them (excessive anti-sieze, silicon based sealer - niether of which should be used)? Have you used leaded fuel?

I only run Amaco fuels...strictly. I'm running bosch O2s and were factory lubed with anti-seize. Well, they came with a one year warranty, so I'll pull them and get them swapped out. hopefully, it's just simply a bad batch of O2s.

        thanks guys.

I've never tried the Bosch O2 sensors, but the general recommendations that I've seen on the numerous F-Body bulletin boards that I frequent is to avoid the Bosch sensors. There is a very strong feeling against them. I'd say 95% of the people who have had problems recommend the stockers. I've always used the OEM AC/Delco O2 sensors, and never had a problem with them.

I have also read numerous posts about the Bosch sensore being junk. I would probably get them warrantied. If you install them and they are still causing problems, I would bite the bullet and get the ac delcos. my .02

dang...well, they are warrantied for a year...I can't dish out another $200+ for sensors, so I'll just pray for the best. Thanks guys...should have asked first. Oh well, a lesson learned.
