  • bov help with intake temp?

i have a relatively low boosted application (8psi). i do not have a bypass or blow off valve. now i realize anything to prevent compressor surge is good but someone told me it would also affect my intake temps too? is there any truth behind that?

You're compressor is not making boost at low rpm's with the bypass valve open so intake temps aren't really affected - the bypass valve helps if you are making boost at higher rpms and then let off on the gas closing the throttle blades suddenly and all that pressure after the blower but before the throttle body needs to go somewhere, so the bypass valve redirects it back to the inlet. Without it you might blow off a piece of the intake tract or something. The recirculated air would be a little hotter than before but not much.
