Good morning- I have a question that has probably been hashed out but being new I will ask. I have a 1967 Camaro with a 350 cu.in. and auto( 350 turbo ) trans., power steering , but not a/c. Now, I am looking at headers to buy - the question is 4 into 1 long style like Hedman or the tri-y set up with 4 into 2 into 1. As in Doug Thorley. The car is a weekend cruiser and not going to see drag strip time. I have heard the long tubes- 4 into 1 are more for racing and for street use have flat spots in the power band. The tri y is inticing but a whole more expensive at 524. 00$. Recommendations? Brand preference? Thanks in advance

Bill, as you probably already know, the biggest problem on the 1st Gens is the steering box/bracket interference. Some guys go with the Vega box and it helps, but I would just stick with an OEM steering box.
Hooker, Thorley, and Lemons all make headers specifically for SBC's and BBC's in 1st Gens. The Lemons are awesome but they are pricey!
The flat spot in the power curve thing is a myth. Long tubes allow greater potential for exhaust gas velocity plain and simple. That means greater power not just down low, but across the entire RPM range.

I don't think the 2nd gen headers will fit the first gen properly, that's why they manufacture different headers for each gen. I bought a set of Hooker headers off Ebay that I had ceramic coated. They worked great. I think they were part # 2241 but I can't remember for sure. I sold the car a while ago.69 Z28 with JL8 factory 4 wheel disc brakes, crossram, transistor ignition, radio delete, heater delete - being restored
