  • LT header brands? install

I know there are lots of post already on this topic! but my question concerns installation. Im thinking about the Longtube (coated) pacesetters. They seem to be the most affordable, but are they harder to install then Hooker or Rksport? What are the easist longtubes to install, regardless of price?

Im a college student on a budget, but since i have 97,000miles i need to replace the plugs and wires (most important) this would be the best time for this

    thanks

I think the install is pretty much the same for all the longtube headers. If you plan on going with emission's legal headers it gets tougher. I ended up taking an easy 20+ hours to do mine. But I had some unexpected issues like the wrong transmission in my car and had to cut off the flange, the auto trans dipstick tube bracket had to be cut to hook up the EGR. I also decided to put in new motor mounts while it was apart. The Pacesetter headers are very good quality and I would definitely get the coated headers especially since they can be bought for $375 or less. But then add the y-pipe cost $129 and O2 extensions, good gaskets, decent band clamps, good header bolts and suddenly it will turn into a $700 project. You need to get the car jacked up really high if you don't use a lift. You also need to cut back a portion of your cat-back pipe so make sure you have a lot of tools available.

1 more thing to make a lot more easier is how big is you arms (it sound funny but i have small arms and it make it easier to reach all bolts.just take your time and be patience.

Also get ceramic coated headers. It cuts down on the intense heat transmitted to the rest of the engine bay. They stay nice too. Be sure to get locking header bolts, and I'm a big fan of Percy's aluminum header gaskets. They don't burn through if a bolt does back out.
