  • Canadian market modifications (1993- 1997)

Anyone know what are the factory modifications for the f bodies sold in Canada?

My 95 Formula is a canadian model, and the tail lights and parking lights were wired differenty . I think the front parikng lights were modified in uk, so that they only flash and dont stay on (fixed that ), and the taillights have an amber section for turn signal ...weird... I am working on getting it back to the original lights configuration

Also it has DRL s and for some reason the headlights pop up every time I start the car up and release the hand brake, whether it is day or night

    A Canadian Trans Am EH?

Well, first I'm from Vancouver Canada and I own a 1995 Trans Am. The thing with your lights are due to the provincial road safety regualtions. Since I'm from British Columbia I dont have the problem with my front ambers not staying on. The rear ambers I have never seen before so thats kinda wierd. Where in Canada did u get ur car from? By the way.. if u want to disable your DRL the main DRL console is located behind your stereo. Its a little box with about a few wires going into it. I think there's a certain way to do it or you can fry it. Ill post you more info on the correct procedures if you like .

Why ditch the amber lenses? They look better than the plain jane red ones, and they are technically OEM equipment since the car was built within European regulations.

Please post the info on disabling the DRL, its starting to annoy me

I bought the car over here in the UK , but it is still on Canadian plates (Quebec) and I am driving it on those plates, actually only one as it doesnt have a front plate, so no speeding or parking tickets If you know any way I can check the history af the car and who was the previous owner in Canada please let me know

I guess the amber tail lights are the european version, perhaps somebody converted it to uk spec. The lights are arranged like this: amber turn signal, brake /parking , white reverse, red fog lights. Anyway they are going as soon as I can find regular us spec taillights. And the strip under the lights that is supposed to be reflective is only red plastic and I ve seen a few pontiacs with those

Well, I wouldnt change them, but water gets in one of them and it is dirty inside , that green thing, and looks like somebody modified it to turn one of the brake sections into fog lights.. I just want it back as it came out of the factory, wiring and all , maybe I will keep the taillights if I can clean them properly

It doesnt help that its also super bowl sunday BUT don't worry I will post the info in a few hours... hope it helps... I will look into finding anyone that can help you with the history. Usually the insuarance companies can help you out. Try calling or emailing an insuarance comany in Quebec.

Okay, so heres how to disable your Daytime Running Lights... you need to locate the DRL control module. It's a black box about the size of a cigertte pack and is located behind the radio. It's clipped on to the HVAC duct and has two connectors going into it, one is blue and the other is black. The blue connector on the DRL has 8 cavaties but only 7 of them are used. Cavity B is empty. It was discovered that if that terminal is grounded your DRLs become disabled. The black wire in cavity A is a ground. So you can solder a wire from cavity A to cavity B terminals on the PCB. This should leave you with no DRLs . Your power hatch & handbreak lights all work and still looks factory. It is just as easily undone. That should help. I'm going to do the same thing on my Trans Am.

                Thanks for the info,
I tryed that tonight, but it doesnt work, maybe somebody has messed up the wires somewhere at the headlight module under the hood..
I could still hear the click in the drl box though

I just tried the technique I described above on my car and it worked perfectly. The only reason that I can think of as to why it didn't work on your car may be because the headlights may be wired into your ignition. Goodluck with it though and keep me posted on how it goes. By the way... any luck on the history of the car.
