I have a 86 tpi 305 but I need to know the wiring diagram for the plug wires from the distributor cap to the plugs, my friend pulled them all off when we were changing out the cap before I could diagram it and he didnt remember what order they were in. If any one can help me out that would be great. Let me know hear or email me at gils0030@d.umn.edu. Thanks!

The firing order for almost all SBC's including the LT1 is 18436572. The cylinder positions are also almost all the same for Chevy motors including LT1's and LS1's. Bank 1(driver's side cylinders) are the odd cylinders with number 1 being the front cylinder on the driver's side. Then 3,5, and 7 are the other 3 increasing in number away from number 1. Just the same for bank 2 (passenger side cylinders) with number 2 at the front as well.
Most caps are marked, but if the the distributor cap is not marked with the cylinder numbers, you will need to find TDC at #1. Unplug the coil wire, remove #1 spark plug, cover the spark plug hole with your finger, have someone bump the key until your finger is pushed off the hole. Then line up the TDC timing marks on the harmonic balancer and the block. Pull the cap and look to see which contact the rotor is pointing at. That will be cylinder number 1. You know what do from there.
