Question...I just purchased my first Camaro...nuthin too special just a 1996 V6 Stock Camaro...I do have some plans to upgrade..anyways I think it came with a factory alarm/keyless entry system. I was not given any type of keyless entry clicker. MY PROBLEM IS THIS...whenever I open the car door the horn will blow and the lights will flash...as if I had just set off the alarm. I dont see any evidence of a aftermarket alarm system. Although on the dash there is a red alarm light. So once I open the car if I dont put the key in the ignition and start the car right away I have to hear the alarm go off. Do you have any information on this? If so I can really really use the help! Thanks....oh also When I turn the ignition off the car shuts off but the radio stays on. The radio will only turn off, once I open the door. Is there a way I can turn this feature off or disactivate it?

The factory alarm is activated when you lock the door using the electric lock switch. If you lock it with the key from the outside, the alarm isn't activated. Then you unlock the door with the key. The keyless remote fob deactivates the alarm when you push the unlock button. If you didn't get one, a replacement should be ordered so that you'll have a funtioning alarm.
The radio stays on for a short time unless the door is opened. This is the retained power accessory feature. If you don't want it to do that, turn off the radio manually or just let it turn off when you open the door.

Refer to the appropriate owner's manual below:
http://csce.uark.edu/~jgbertr/rb/pdf/manuals.html
There are instructions to program your car so that the alarm isn't set when you lock your door. As it is right now, once you open your door you have 10 seconds to put the key in the ignition and turn it to "run".
You can also purchase your own key fob....there should be instructions to program it for your car in the owner's manual.Joe K.
