  • 95 LT1 sending computer to get tuned. need help w/in.

pcmforless is tunning my computer. finally going to install mid lenght headers - 1.6 gm rr's - lt4 springs. what should i do in regard to shift firmness - rev limiter and vehicle anti theft VATS ? should i leave them alone or remove vats - raise rev limiter (auto a4) and firm up the shifts???
    all info very much appreciated.

You might want to consider buying the cable (akmcables.com), so that you can do email tunes from Bryan at pcmforless. This saves you time of your car being outta commision.

Bryan firmed up my shifts, and said that they would even be more firm when the Perform Tran button on the console is used. Other than that, I just tell him all of my mods, and he sends me an appropriate tune. Just tell him what you have and how you use the car (DD or track), and he will hook you up.

I intend to run some Data Master scans this season to get him some data captures, so that he can fine tune things even further.

Do you already have a shift kit in there? If so, I would tell him. If it shifts hard enough, then I wouldn't bother. I didn't opt for it.

Bryan set my rev limiter to stock. It's really no use to go too high without at least porting the heads or changing the cam.

Regarding VATS, why would you want to remove it? Are you having trouble with it?

I would opt for shift firmness increase then. Not sure about the VATS if it's giving you trouble. Could it be the contacts/pellet resistors are the culprit?

Bryan supplies you with the program to upload. It's an MS-DOS program that must be run in true MS-DOS mode. Since my laptops don't work too well with MS-DOS and communication with the serial ports, I just bring my desktop into the garage and upload from there.
