                mY 97 Vert has the 16x8 wheels from the factory with those same center caps ..I think the 97 SS verts also had 16" wheels

                    Not sure why GM didn't want 17" wheels on the 4th Gen convertibles, but they didn't put them on. Maybe they felt the ride would be too harsh??? As a result, wheel suppliers like AFS still indicate that their 17" ZR1 replica wheels will not fit on convertibles. But they work perfectly.

                      That's really strange. Could it also have been a way to keep the "cost" down on the 4th Gen convertibles? I must say that, whatever the reasoning behind it, it really wasn't a smart move IMHO. But...that's just me lol

                        I remember reading it was the structural integrity of the convertibles. They felt it needed the extra sidewall for absorbing some of the shock. So rather than fix that they put 16" wheels - nice huh?

                          Not to hijack but they did not put the WS6 badge on the verts either ...to much weight I guess
