    Pardon my nostalgia......

    I was looking through a box of old "junk" and found a few old photos of my previous "favorite" car, at least until the 94 Formula came along.... now they are "tied" for favorite.

    1966 GTO 2 Dr. hardtop, 360HP/389ci Tri-Power engine. Wide ratio 4-speed, 3.55 Saf-T-Trak (posi) rear, heavy duty handling package, rear sway bar and LCA's from an Olds 442 police package, limited production heavy duty braking package (still "drums" all around though), and my all-time favorite wheels... 15x8 Cragar SS, with Goodyear G60-15 "wide ovals"......

    381ci all-forged stroker - 10.8:1 - CNC LT4 heads/intake - CC solid roller - MoTeC engine management - 8 LS1 coils - 58mm TB - 78# injectors - 300-shot dry nitrous - TH400 - Gear Vendor O/D - Strange 12-bolt - 4.11's - AS&M headers - duals - Corbeau seat - AutoMeter gauges - roll bar - Spohn suspension - QA1 shocks - a few other odds 'n ends. 800HP/800lb-ft at the flywheel, on a 300-shot. 11.5 @ 117MPH straight motor

    Woa you could get lost under that hood. Look at all that space.

      I remember that. I had a 70 goat 400/4brl/turbo 400
      It kept on snapping timing chains at the worst time.
      It was fun setting the dual points up. Yeah i though that was fun. It would smoke the tires something serious but handled like a boat. I was young and foolish at took it up to 140 a couple times. On those bias ply 15" tires no less. I'm lucky to still be around. Brakes, yeah it had discs in front but that didn't help that much.

      Dammit no photos, too many ex-wives will do that to you!

        I still see those old GTOs around at car cruises! I just saw one the other day going to work.
        LT4KM, 160' TS, MAF ends, TB-bs, 1.6 R/R, SLP CAI, LCA, tierod, 17x9"F/R, 275/40R17 tires. WS6 Muffler, LS1 DS. 21mm rear sway bar. Soon to be LT4 heads, intake, & HOT cam

              What a beautiful machine!!!!! I really really want a '66 or '67 GTO...someday(???) parked next to my '71 455 HO 4sp T/A, and my '58 Pontiac Chieftain. I would then be a very very happy camper!

              My neighbor is restoring a '67 GTO right now. I sit and drool whenever I go down and help out. I offered to schedule a booth and paint it for him when the time comes.

                That is one of my all time favorites. I always wanted a blue 66 or 67 tripower with redline tires.

                  Was a nice car. I went down to the local Pontiac dealer at the end of 1972 and told him I wanted to buy a 1973 Grand Prix 455HO. The dealer asked if I was trading the GTO, and I said "no" 'cause I could always get way more for my cars if I sold them myself. I just told him to give me the best cash deal on the Grand Prix, which they did. A couple days later the owner of the dealership calls me up, tells me he wants the GTO for his son... and "name your price". I got top $$$$ for it. Wish I still had it.

                  Actually, a Grand Prix 455 wasn't exactly the best car to own when the "oil crisis" hit in 1973, and everyone was lining up for blocks, for a gas station to open.

                  I made scans of b&w photos of my earlier cars... 63 Impala, 56 Bel Air convert, 53 Bel Air convert.... I'll have to bore people with pic's of those next........

                    I'll have to post some pics of my 69 Goat. I restored it, frame off with my father from ages 13-17. I still have it in my garage and it comes out on nice days. Bone stock (actually my dad tells me now we put a real mild cam in it to keep me safe) but its got some serious torque for a stocker. Lots of work into that baby and now I really treasure it.

                      That is soooooo cool. I am going to get a classic Vette for my three year old when he reaches 12 or so, and do the same.

                        want room to work? take a look under the hood of a 59 or 60 Chevy impala with a 283. You could sit in the engine compartment with the engine when you worked on it!!!

                        Had one of each, and despite being 'boats', they were great driving cars and had plenty of room to work inside too (at the drive in movie!! wink, wink!!!)

                          It was a great experience. It brought my dad and I pretty close. This where I learned the basics and sparked an interest that has turned into a great carreer as a teacher. Definately go for it....its a big time commitment, but worth it.

                          A word of warning though.... it did turn me into a big time Pontiac nut and speed freak. Never did anything tooo stupid though (especially with the goat).

                            My 63 Impala had the 327ci/300HP engine, no power accessories of any kind, no A/C, and it looked pretty small sitting in the huge, open engine compartment. You're right... it wasn't unusual to sit on the fender and hang your legs down between the engine and the inner fender, or even stand in there when you had to.....

                            And you could fit at least 4 people in the trunk.......
