  • Thermostate?

Just got home from work, freezing out side -3deg c.....
On way home (10miles) heat never came through into the car with heater turned up full?
Also engine temp rose quickly to above were it normally would (just above half way on the gauge, were it normally sits below half way.
Car normally starts to heat up inside after 3miles....

That was one cold ride home!

So my question is, is it my thermostate? Or is it / could it be something else?

    Cheers guys

Any chance you don't have enough anti-freeze in there, and the radiator is frozen? Sounds like a possibility. Stuck thermostat would also explain it.

Does your heater work normally at other times?

Well I went to check the anti freeze. Couldnt see any liquid at all!

About 4 weeks ago I had filled it up?????

As i filled it I could see water sat on the k member...b Put it on a ramp and it looks like waterpump leaking, so pump and seal on order...

Keep topping it up with water in mean time, only reason engine was hot and car was cold inside was there was no circulation due to low fluid level! I missed the obvious!

Well reason there was no fluid in it was the water pump was leaking... Ive got a new water pump and seal... but, to get the pump off on a v6 the power steering bracket has to come off cause it covers 2 of the bolts... Only problem is I cannot get power steering pump off solid.... Must be doing something wrong??????
