    sending computer to get tuned. what steps are best to remove safely?

    I have never done it, but if it were me, I would unplug the - battery cable, unscrew the unit, unplug it, and pull it out.

    You should probably make sure you remember your radio code before you do any of that. I've heard about people getting locked out of their radio.

      Rather than pull the battery cable off and lose your radio security code, remove the "PCM BAT" fuse. That fuse can be either in the panel at the and of the dash, or in the convenience box under the hood, depending on the year of the car.

      Look at the first 2 steps of this online guide - its for the LT4KM, but it shows removing the PCM/bracket from the fender. After you get the PCM off the fender, you can access the 4 connectors in the back. Just be careful about putting too much strain on the wires when you have the PCM loose.

          A little piece off ESD Bubble wrap to cover the exposed pins never hurts either.

            Also be very gentle with the plastic harness ends. They are usually very brittle and can break. So when you are prying them off, be careful.
