  • New Slave, and clutch master cylinder

Hello all I am new to the forum. Hope to make new friends and get great info, and ideas from everyone here. I am the proud owner of a 2001 Firebird, Formula which I ordered brand new from the factory directly. After 102,000 miles of hard driving I purchase a new car (4 banger) and put my girl away while I put her back to showroom slowly. I have been having big problems with the Clutch. I have intstalled a New Dual friction center force clutch for the second time. Only difference this time I installed a new centerforce flywheel to go with it. Since it was installed my clutch slave and master cylinder have gone out. I considered the 1st ones defective but after a 2nd time something is wrong. The trans checked out ok, and replaced it for a 3rd time with OEM parts again. This time its been holding but I dont use the car but only once a month to keep it active. Anyone Have this problem too? and any advice would be appreciated. Is there a Stronger performance Slave, and master clutch cylinder available?

    Welcome to the forums!!

What exactly fails on the master cylinder/slave combo? Slave starts to leak, or something else.

McLeod makes an adjustable master cylinder, but I'm not sure if its any "heavier" than the stocker. I believe there is also a flow restriction in the LS1 clutch hydraulics, that can be drilled out to make the clutch actuation faster. Not sure how that would affect the hydraulics.

Thanks I am very confused about what happened because I never had a problem with my 1st centerforce clutch. Now I dont trust my car with fear my clutch pedal is going to hit the floor again. And the OEM replacement Slave Cylinder comes with a sticker that says V6 Only. I called the dealer and says that it the correct replacement for the 5.7 I dont get it? Anyone replace theres here before? Oh does anyone else have a factory installed Corvette Tanny? The guy that checked out my Trans says it the same tranny found in the Z06 vette. I am not sure if this is possible. Anyone else here have something like this?

He's BS'ing you pretty badly. The C5 and C6 Corvette do not use the same T56 that was used in the F-Bodys. The Corvette tranny is mounted in the rear, integrated with the differential housing. There is absolutley NO way a Z06 tranny could be put in an F-Body.

What is "standard fluid"? brake fluid, dextron, silicone, something else? What are you using exactly?

Honestly I dont know what was used this time around. I only topped it off once and I used dot 3 since that is what it says to use on the cap. Is there something specific I should use better? Right now she running fine, but not very confident as I was before. Dont want to spend to replce them again.

I was just asking because all of the new Dodges call for Dextron in everything. I just wanted to make sure you didn't use the wrong thing in it. I have had problems with Silicone Dot 5 in the brakes and I would think the clutch would be similar.
