So why not just get like a 8 point roll cage and a k member? stiffin that chassis right back up i think!

ummm i agree with the roll cage idea that would work although if you taking out the whole top i'd prolly go with an 11 point but the k member.... that really doesn't do anything for cassis stiffness....

i'd agree with you on the 11 point, it would be better than the eight...but that is just more surface area to hit your head on. im speaking as an 8, maybe 10 point would be good enough to stiffin the chassis right up and you could still use it as a daily driver. That is if the targa top was the only thing to do..most firebirds are not daily drivers. I still think that would be cool.

A roll cage would be a PITA. I'd have to climb in and out through the window unless I got one of those roll cages that have bars that swing out like a door. It would add an extra 100+ lbs to the car which is bad considering that I'd like to make my car lighter, not heavier. I'd also have to find someone to weld it in. It would be a little embarassing too. Having an 8 pt roll cage in my 14 second car...no thanks lol.

I'm not getting you guys on the whole K member thing . You're aware that all of our cars have K members, right? Isn't that where our motor mounts are? Do you mean that I should switch to a tubular or chome moly K member? I don't think that would do anything, considering that I've seen several reliable sources claiming that the stock K member is stronger than an aftermarket one. I think the aftermarket ones are really just to shed weight off the front end. I'm not 100% sure on this though.

your right on the k member i just didn't wanna sound like an a$$ and say thats is your engine cradle, i just figured i would say that doesn't help with chassis stiffness

Dont get married runnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!! Kidding lol.. Something about putting on Ttops when it didnt come like that from the factory doesnt feel right. Even from the factory they leak. I cant imagine how much there going to leak when you do it yourself or by someone. Especially after the car has aged and been tweaked all over the place...If you put some serious power behind the wheel arent you going to start tweaking that chassis? I believe thats why all my TTops leaked due to the power and the constant heavy foot. The sole reason why I decided to order my bird without the T tops this time.

That's an interesting statement. My wife's 2002 firebird came from the factory with T-tops and they have never leaked. I did the conversion on my car 4 years ago and mine don't leak.
