At another post I asked how does the MSD Ignition look on the LS1 engine installed since we have individual coils. Injuneer thanks for the picture of it. What do you think of the look? I am confused about it though. It says that there is a Controller that MSD has yet to put out for it. So does it function without it? Anyone else have a take on this.

Per the writeup on the page I posted, there are two connection on the coil. One connection is for the stock harness wiring. That allows your current PCM connection to achieve multiple spark discharge via the new MSD coils. Then there is a second connection on the MSD coil, allowing it to be controlled by the MSD "controller".
I really don't know what the controller is, but think of the things you can do with current MSD units:
-variable RPM limits, cutting spark, not fuel.
-boost referenced retard
-stepped retard for nitrous
-two-step rev limiters for burnouts, etc.
I'm thinking digital controller, like the Digital-6.
These are tne new MSD products for the LS1:

I think the red coils would look great on my LT1..... just not sure how they would get along with the MoTeC IEX 8-channel ignition driver......

I am not to familiar with the newer LT1 engines. I have had 2 TA's 86 and 87, and 1 87 IROC Z camaro back in my late teens ealry 20's. Is that in stock position where those coils are? Or did you customize it like that? Yeah I read the page sounds like something worth while.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2317021/1

The stock LT1 only has one coil, and a conventional (albeit unusually located) distributor. My setup is part of a complete aftermarket engine management system.... I'm only aware of one other car that used this setup, and it no longer exists.
The stock LT1 coils is mounted on the front of the passenger side head. Nothing there any more on mine:
This is a Gen 1 SBC using the 8 LS1-style coils, driven by the MoTeC engine management system. It made 1,350HP.
All this stuff is done by a shop in Perkasie PA - Second Street Speed.
They were also adapting this system to a Viper V10 engine in a 70's Barracuda, using 10 of the LS1 type coils:

Injuneer that is really impressive!!!! If you dont mind me asking what kind of alternator are you running with that set up? The alternator in my ride is underneath I would like to replace it with a stronger one that will handle higher horsepower.http://www.cardomain.com/ride/2317021/1
